Recently the staff at AMG read through and discussed in their weekly department meetings, an interesting book for the current times. The book is relevant to the majority of Americans today who are experiencing some fear of the future. This book brings to light a topic most people do not like to hear preached in church–giving. Next to speaking about our sin nature and eternal separation from the Lord, this topic would rate high on the list as objectionable subjects.
However, in my opinion the book Fields of Gold, written by Andy Stanley, was a book that spoke loudly to me even to the point of giving it to several people and recommending it to many others. I thought another way to possibly communicate to even more people was to put a blurb on my blog to challenge others to read this book. No one will agree with all Andy states in the book but the practical and scriptural input of his insight to help each of us deal with the emotions of fear, giving and God’s care for us is worthy of investigation through reading Fields of Gold.
Do we trust or are we fearful? Are we afraid to trust what God promises during these times of economic uncertainty? Are we willing to let fear engulf us or are we willing to be good stewards of the resources the Lord has entrusted us? Only you can answer these questions, but know that trusting God totally removes fear, regardless of whether it is finances, life issues, illness or even death. I will not say that reading this book will ease your concerns, but I do believe that the biblical insights will strengthen your faith. I challenge you. Read Fields of Gold.
